Do you ship to the USA or Australia?
No, we are only able to ship to countries within Europe.
Can you supply a specific species not listed on your website?
All the stock we have available is listed on-line. We only supply native and European ant species and are not able to supply species other than those listed.
Can you supply a colony size not listed on your website?
No, we only have the colony sizes available which are listed as instock.
Can you supply additional workers for my colony?
No, it is not possible to add additional ants to a colony. For most species the colony will only accept ants produced by the queen of your colony. Adding additional ants from a different queen can result in fighting and the death of the colony.
Some of my workers have not survived the journey, will my colony be OK?
Yes. If you lose some workers during transit the colony will still be fine. All colonies start with just a single queen and the colony slowly builds up its numbers. Losing a few workers may slow the growth slightly but they will soon recover.
My colony has just arrived and they are not moving much. Are they OK?
They are fine, it is perfectly normal for a colony to appear to be inactive when they are first delivered. They may be slightly stressed from the journey and wish to huddle and hide for protection. They should be left alone in a cool dark place where they can recover. Also, please do not put ants straight from their delivery package in to a hot room. Just like when you introduce fish to an aquarium, the insects should be allowed to acclimatise slowly. Not doing this can cause them stress.
Can I use a gel ant habitat? Which ants are suitable?
No, we do not recommend gel habitats for keeping ants. Gel habitats were designed in America for use with worker ants of the American Harvester ant, which we do not supply. European ant species do not cope well in the habitats and as queens naturally live underground in complete darkness they are not suited to the constant light exposure they get when in gel.
